Law Enforcement Misconduct Tracker
-
The DOJ has shut down a database that tracks federal law enforcement misconducts.
It's not a publicly visible database; it's used by the federal government internally for law enforcement agencies to review records of misconduct before hiring law enforcement personnel. It was established to tackle the "wandering officers" problem where law enforcement officers who were forced out of their jobs due to significant misconduct just find other law enforcement jobs in different agencies.
That database has been shutdown due to a recent Trump executive order.
The idea to establish that database was proposed by the previous Trump administration.
