Hurricane headed my way
-
@ShiroKuro Yes, good to see you posting.
I assumed you got out and was too busy to check the forum for anything. -
What a nightmare!
The power came on 10 minutes ago.
My phone has 89%.
My charger has 0%.
My flashlight is still working.
I have no replacement batteries.
I was up all night with the hurricane because I kept hearing projectiles. I didn't realize I was hearing trees falling over and parts of roofs being ripped off included a non-structural part of mine (a massive piece vapor barrier and some insulation).
Everything is a mess.
I was exhausted.
RM woke me up 15 minutes before his sister arrived to take him (and me if I wanted to go) to her house.
There was zero chance of me getting ready and leaving in 15 minutes.
I don't know what time she got here but he used the entire morning and at least a couple hours in the afternoon getting ready.
He didn't have any trouble walking in my room and barking what he wanted to say when I was sleeping. I can only conclude he chose his timing.
I haven't had a hot shower in days. I will soon.
I'm going to study my calendar in artificial light.
I might groom myself if I get ambitious.
I've been very uncomfortable, in pain, half blind, and very depressed.
It's good the power came on. Hopefully it will stay on for a few days. The rent is late and I have been emailing the manager. RM has had paid no part of any bill since August. Then he broke his ribs. How is that relevant to bills getting paid? It's not. Now he's decided to ditch me here so he doesn't have to live without creature comforts and has left it to me to negotiate with the manager while he's miles away.
He started working from home. He worked a single shift.
He won't stop telling me everything is my fault. That goes hand in hand with taking responsibility for nothing.
I'm going to look on the bright side (sic). At least I have power for now.

Sounds like the hurricane is a secondary problem. Glad you have power back!
-
Thanks!
I pulled myself together as much I could make myself.
I got a few things done.
RM showed up in the driveway and called me. He said he lost his keys.
I just counted my Ativan and took one.
So in about an hour I'll find something else productive to accomplish.
Thanks, again!

Hang in there @Daniel !
-
@ShiroKuro Thanks!

It's traumatic when it hits where you live. Traumatic and shocking. I don't know how the survivors in Ashville are coping with what they have been through and are facing.

Should we use hurricanes like we use windmills instead of running from them or stocking up on necessities?
It boggles the mind!

I still don't know know how I figured out storm surge wasn't coming here. I don't really have a better answer than intuition.
They'll probably be another storm and I won't have to start a new thread.
In the meantime the temperatures are going to drop somewhat dramatically tomorrow. That will be nice.

My solar power lithium battery device charger arrived today. It can be changed with electricity (I'm giving a full charge now) or the sun (of course) and can power a phone, etc.
My matching lithium battery power small lantern arrives tomorrow.
You think about this kind of thing after a hurricane hits and you go without power for days!
My situation was mild but it was still uncomfortable with no light, no air conditioner, and cold water for several days.

3rd hurricane next week forecast Cat 2 or 3 to hit Florida Big Bend area with southern most tract line forecast leading to somewhere on the map that looked like Tampa.
So sick of this carp. Not that anyone was planning to but don't move to Florida. It gets hit by hurricane after hurricane and is a reactionary cultural wasteland.
I feel like I can never relax. I didn't feel like this living here in my youth and I've never disliked living in any state ever in my life.

So Oscar isn't a threat but there might be a threat October 1 to November 1?
FEMA hasn't approved the application for damage from Milton which you can see clearly and somewhat dramatically with your naked eye.
The computer doesn't want to accept the address.
A worker lied or got confused and said applicant refused to give household income.
It would be $750. It wouldn't cover the damage.

Risk to the U.S. East Coast: this is the most alarming scenario. In this case, a central high pressure in the Atlantic could route storms towards the east coast of the U.S., affecting as a result some areas that have already experienced relevant damage, like in the misfortunate case with Hurricane Helene.

East coast?
Confusing.

We're free and clear for at least 10 days.
Hurrah!
