Happy First Day of Autumn!

The first day of autumn (and spring) brings crowds downtown with cameras to capture "Chicagohenge". Because of the alignment of the streets, twice a year, the sun rises and sets right in the middle of the long corridors created by the buildings... https://www.chicagotribune.com/2024/09/20/chicagohenge-is-back-what-is-it-and-how-can-you-see-it/

One of my favorite times of year, despite the increased garden workload to rake up leaves from our two very large maple trees. The upside is that I have tons of compost makings that will get used in the garden!
We've been in a warm and dry spell for weeks, though we're finally getting some much needed rain today. Temps have been around 90 for a while, much warmer than usually. Thankfully the nighttime temps have been pretty comfortable, down to 50s on some nights.

We’re camping in the Hocking Hills area today, about 150 miles from the W. Virginia border and a bit south of Colombus. It’s some of the most beautiful country I have ever seen. The trees are just beginning to turn.
But dry, very dry. No rain for weeks and weeks. The grasslands are brown, the crops are brown. We aren’t allowed to have a fire for fear of setting the surrounding forest on fire.
90 degrees today but rain is forecast for tomorrow and Tuesday.
