    With another person? Never!

I'm in love with this fine example for sale of one of my dream watches.

It's a white gold Vacheron Constantin (my favorite) ultra thin, c. 1970.

The reason it doesn't have the Geneva Seal (a big deal) is because the movement is a legendary Jaeger -LeCoultre hand wound 18,000 bph movement used by VC and AP (one of Geneva "Trinity" along with PP.

I'll edit to add this information.

Jaeger-LeCoultre has a history as a legendary maker of movements. They had many noteworthy patents for movements before they became a manufacture (a company that make the whole watch).

This is 33 mm. Excellent! The standard for men's dress watches for most of the 20th century was 34 mm. Rarely 33. Never 36 mm.

It has a solid back. A case back should be solid. Old school is you know the movement in your watch. You don't need to look at it and you certainly don't need to show it off. Love it.

I'd buy it tomorrow if I bought a scratch off lottery ticket and won this amount of money.

In other words, I can't afford it.

At least now I know fine examples are in the market and at what price point.

I've been obsessed with watches (and automobiles) for as long as I can remember. I have no idea why.

        Things I didn't know:

AP was founded in the V de J. I certainly didn't know this.

VC and PP were founded in Geneva. I knew this.

VC, PP, and AP have manufacturing facilities in the V de J. I had no idea.

It's not every day I learn something new about watches. I'm glad I found this ad.

1stDibs site is great selling with its categories.

It's good to have along with auction sites, some retail stores in the US (Rau Antiques in New Orleans, Lang in San Francisco) and the companies' sites.

I almost always look at jewelry when I go to 1stDibs.

I think I'll make a "picture book" for myself when I get my office set up. I can print pictures and text of jewels and watches, and organize all of it in a large binder. I'd include famous jewelry and crown jewels, and mineralogy.

I think that would be a satisfying and relaxing project for me.
