      I just noticed the price.

      €475,000.

I'd move here if I could and I don't even like cold weather.

Once again, U.K. property at a surprisingly low price point.

What could you get for this much in the U.S.? A lot of you were careful or a pile of new built junk if you weren't paying attention.

It's that price because of the location.
Place it near a railway link ten miles out of London and you can add 3 million to the price.

Yeah, but what if I were in the market and wanted splendid isolation?

The town where my father's house (now sold and part of his estate) is about a half an hour to the east of the Metro North commuter railroad to NYC (the line following the Hudson River with its terminus in Poughkeepsie) and about fifteen minutes west of a Metro North station in Pawling (the line running to the east of the other with its terminus one county north in Wassaic).

I grew up with that. It was great.

It's probably why my father's house sold in thirty days.

But, I wouldn't be upset about living in Scotland (except medical care; that was a fiasco in Hawaii).

1/4 of my ancestry is Scottish.

They're Scotts-Irish, technically, but from everything I can tell, they assimilated.

          It's a beautiful place.

It is. Outside of towns it's often rugged, remote, windy wet and rainy much of the year and with midges.
But on a sunny blue sky day in the highlands with scudding cotton wool clouds on the mountains and their reflection on a loch, there's a wild beauty that touches your heart.
            Ireland has a similar feel.

              What are midges?
