...and the party is going to splinter.

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026/jan/22/democrats-ice-funding-bill

Their sentiments are expected to influence the vast majority of the Democrats’ 213-strong House caucus to vote no – although sufficient Democrats are believed to be ready to vote in favor to enable the legislation to pass. The party has no plans to whip its members into line to enforce the leadership view.

I can't believe this BS. With innocent American citizens being dragged off to who knows where, murdered, and/or beat up, this tepid--to be kind--response from Democratic leadership is beyond pathetic. What in the $&#( ##& are they waiting for? Is what we see with our own eyes not enough of a transgression to merit whip?

I have to say, I'm almost done with the party. I hope Democratic Socialist party takes off.

“I share their frustration with the out-of-control agency. I encourage my colleagues to review the bill and determine what is best for their constituents and communities.” -- Rosa DeLauro (CT)

How did the party get so many brain dead nitwits in power?

    The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

This week I began to see a new messaging coming across my feeds - I assume bots, foreign influence or something - once again trying to splinter Democrats, that both parties are working for the same people so don't vote ... Here we go again.

Saw a number of articles stating the the Republican party was going to be extinguished. Think they got it wrong.
Got a call from the DNC asking for money. Ha
I do send $ to individual candidates through ActBlue.

@bernard I share your sentiments about the Democrats.

How did it come to this?

I blame the Democrats for their continual weakness born out of corruption.

I've been done with them. I was done with them during the Biden administration. Biden enthusiastically supported a genocide, Democrats in power turned a blind eye, and now look what's happening here.

I've been listening to this song a lot lately. It seems appropriate.

You’re ready to leave the party when 7 out of 213 democrats disagree with you mostly about tactics? That’s 3% of the dems in Congress.

It seems unlikely that one could expect a national party to agree with them with more than 97% fidelity on pretty much any issue AND the right approach to achieving victory on it.

Well, let me ask you. How do you think we have obliterated the Constitution and entered into fascism? What went wrong?

When an executive branch without morals is able to decide which laws to enforce and which to ignore (release the files), it essentially means that no laws really exist. It is a plan 30 or more years in the making as the hard right/money figured out how to manipulate much of the public by burrowing into many of America's institutions - media, church, state and local government and the courts. They finally achieved the 'perfect storm' with enough power and votes along with most of the courts to keep the elected Dems unable to do much of anything through traditional channels.
