The deadline for installing Windows 11 is fast approaching and neither my PC nor tablet will upgrade.

If Microsoft were offering rebates and good deals on new Windows 11 compatible machines, I might stick with a PC. But they're not. And I'm really pissed at them.

I've never been more serious in my consideration of getting a Mac.

    So my question is:

As a user of PCs since they were introduced, what will be the biggest hurdle for me in learning to use a Mac? Is it going to be intuitive? Will all the web apps I currently use (earthlink email and blogspot) continue to work on a Mac (I would think so)? Are there any gotchas?

    The industrial revolution cheapened everything.

Have you ever used a Mac?

It's a computer. If you make the switch, you need to make the commitment to learning how to use it. And practice, daily. The OS is different enough that it can be both annoying and wonderful to a long-term windows user.

I use both. I have 3 Macs here in my office. Part of my job is supporting Macs. I used to be a huge Apple evangelist yet, I prefer Windows 11.

I was a PC user. I then got heavily involved with Apple education with iPad so eventually got a Mac. It took some time to figure out how to do things on my Mac that I already knew how to do on PC. But once I learned those things, I found I far preferred Mac. Now I have to use Windows at work and I HATE IT. I find it is not as intuitive but also that there are so many things that Mac comes with that it just does better than Windows. For example, Mac’s “preview” program has elements of Adobe Acrobat built in. Stuff that you have to buy Acrobat to access on PC.

I fell in love with using Mac by taking a class through Apple to become a trainer on MacBook. But similar courses are available at Apple Stores, and they also have online courses you can take. But until I had direct instruction in my Mac I didn’t realize how many cool things I was missing out on. I was just using it as an Internet machine (as well as using Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, which are included rather than being a separate purchase). Once I actually had someone teach me I became a huge fan.
