Democracy 2025
-
I have been brainstorming (alone) about what role I can play in resisting the current administration's attacks on our constitution. I started thinking about starting a group in our local community, where concerned citizens can come together in person to share information and ideas, and create and participate in actions together. I came up with the name Resistance 2025. And then I thought, of course, "surely someone is already doing something like this and I don't need to duplicate their efforts, but rather, join them."
A quick google search brought up this website, which is national, and was begun by members of the Biden administration. I haven't looked at it in depth, just have read the home page, but thought it worth sharing here.
What organizations are forming in your state or community that share in this purpose?

Wow, if you want to be encouraged that people are doing something, follow this link and scroll down the page to see the member organizations for this effort. I am going to join and support some of these...

Yes, I was just on that page reading the FAQs.
How did you choose Democracy 2025 members? How are you organized, and how can I join?
A: Democracy 2025 began as a project by Democracy Forward in 2022 (before Project 2025 even published its Mandate for Leadership!) to research and plan legal responses to threats to our democracy. Since then, that effort has grown to include more than 350 organizations representing millions of people with 800 individuals actively working across a wide range of focus areas and tactical specialties. We are a broad and diverse pro-democracy coalition. If you or your organization or company is interested in joining us, please let us know.
Why did you choose these threats of a Trump administration to focus on?
A: We are particularly focused on the threats that will be harmful to the American people and that we expect the Trump administration to try and implement through executive actions or federal agencies, without waiting for Congressional action or approval.
How are you funded?
The work of Democracy 2025 is powered by staff at individual organizations, including Democracy Forward and Democracy Forward Foundation. We encourage you to explore coalition members’ websites and related documents for more information about specific organizations.
Would this effort exist if Kamala Harris had won the presidential election?
Yes, we are committed to countering anti-democratic extremism wherever it appears, whether that is in the White House, in the states, or in the courts.
What is the difference between Democracy 2025 and Democracy Forward?
Democracy 2025 is a coalition effort led by both Democracy Forward and many other organizations, advocates, academics, and individuals. To learn more about Democracy Forward, visit democracyforward.org. If you have additional questions, please contact democracy2025@democracyforward.org.
