Hay Steve - Repair or replace?

New house came with a ‘microwave drawer’ under counter. No formal dx but by all appearances the magnetron blew.
Don’t have a quote on repair. Probably need a guy to come out twice, once to confirm dx once to replace, plus order the part.
They aren’t cheap, $1299 new. Then again service ain’t cheap here either.
Unit was built in July 2017.
I’m leaning toward replace as it’s getting close to 8 years old.
Thoughts?

I’ve never so much seen a drawer microwave so I don’t know much about them. I do know that microwaves have some serviceable parts and it’s not always the Magnatron. Some even have fuses that can be replaced. Fans and switches can fail as well. Boards too, buy they generally cost as much as a new unit.
I think I might enter the make and model in to a search engine and see what people have to say about what goes wrong with them. If everyone says “board”, or “Magnatron” I’d probably replace it.
Sooner rather than later though - tariffs will likely make the price go up.

Maybe, although I’ve seen microwaves last 20 years or more. Not sure about the newer ones, though.

We had a Panasonic that went 25+ years. The replacement Panasonic, with an "inverter technology" lasted maybe 3 years.
I bought a Farberware for cheap a couple of years ago because it was the right size and I liked that I could get a white and stainless microwave. Some of our appliances are white and some are stainless. The Farberware looks like it fits right in.
So far, so good.
