From little shoots

I have sweet autumn clematis plants that pop up from seeds from the mother plant. A couple of years ago, I gave one of the "volunteers" to a friend. It had three shoots that were less than a foot long.
Here it is now:
My friends had some trees removed in the yard, and Susan thinks that it took off once it got more sun.
I think they need a sturdier arbor...
