    Durand-Brager

These I love and would buy, the sea, sky, and a cutter. Imagine them on walls around your dining table.

John Webber (1751- 1793), British artist who traveled with Captain Cook on his 3rd journey, who was the first European to paint Hawaii, its land, people and culture.

      Highly recommend.

Here's a bit of fun for you in the style of the TV show, Antiques Roadshow:

        Good better best.
        Three paintings, in any order...
an acrylic and two watercolours, approximately in sterling, one is worth about 400, one is about 800, one is 1200.
        But which is which?

The acrylic is at the bottom. 400.
Prices top to bottom are 800 and 1200.

Thanks for having a go Daniel.
I can never get the antiques roadshow stuff in order btw.

Correct that the bottom one or an icy waterfall is acrylic, the other two watercolour.
It is £800 or more, possibly over a grand now.
The oriental scene is painted on silk and is around 400.
The Thames Pool is by a known artist called Scarborough, and worth at least 1200, possibly double if cleaned.

So, I guessed 3/3 for acrylic vs. watercolor (wasn't hard) and guessed 1/3 prices.

Thanks for the guessing game, Andy.

It's funny you should bump this thread because I was just about to.

This has been one of my favorite paintings my entire adult life. It was introduced to me by my girlfriend in college. We were together my first year at UF and one year after.

She grew up in an interesting family. Her mother's side of the family were Episcopalians and had money since the 19th century and her father was Lutheran, a 1st generation Danish immigrant, a JD, and a county judge in the county north of where I live now.

She liked horses. She had done show jumping when she was growing up.

But the painting speaks for itself. It's brilliant.

                      Lol!

                      Yeah, that is amazing.

My other favorite Surrealist is Dalí. There's a world-class Dalí museum in St. Petersburg in my county of all places.
