My neighbors are growing them and have given me some to try. Looks like a tiny watermelon, tastes a lot like a cuke.

I wonder if they would pickle well? The article says they are a warm-weather crop (75 degrees for a planting temperature), but they must have some tolerance if your neighbor is growing them in the Chicago area.
