We're in the middle of a winter storm. Woke up to ice covered everything. Power went out at 10 am, came back on around 2:45 pm. Internet came back around 3:30 pm.

Everything is still covered in ice, storm warning is in effect til 7 pm, I believe. Very beautiful.

@Bernard Ice is beautiful but can also be so destructive. We don't get a lot of ice storms around here (they tend to be a couple of hundred miles to the south of us). We did get more than a 1/4" of ice in a storm maybe 35 years ago and it took power lines down all over the place and our power was out for three days in the middle of winter.

Just went out to get wood from the shed. Everything is still covered in ice. Heard the cracking of tree limbs (I image) from the forest.

Yes, @wtg, it can be destructive!

Cold has settled in so it doesn't look like we'll be losing the ice anytime soon. A young Pine I just passed on my way to the mailbox:

@bernard Do you ever see hoarfrost in your garden? I've only seen it twice, both times when we were up in Door County for a winter visit. It is the most magical thing!

            Boy howdy! 馃槺

Forecast was 61 and rain, currently like 20 degrees with 50 MPH wind. Wind chill -7! 馃ザ Hard little snow pellets whipping around and piling up against the rocks . Forecast has been revised to 25 degrees by 5 PM.

Sharon left for CA this morning and her plane got off despite the wind. I鈥檓 on my own for a week and don鈥檛 plan to leave the house!

So how's it going? Cleveland was on the national news today. Canopy blew off of a gas station. We sent you our wind. You're welcome.

@wtg I can't recall seeing any. But if it shows up early in the mornings, there's a good chance I miss it for being in bed!

Just another brisk winter day in the heartland. At least the snow is dry enough that I don鈥檛 have to shovel it.

Only issue is that I can鈥檛 put out the trash bags full of Christmas detritus for bulk pickup for fear they鈥檒l blow down to the end of the street and in to the forest.

Let us now bow our heads and pray for the continued health and wellbeing of my furnace.

Crazy warm here. Too warm. 44 degrees today, supposed to hit above 40 all week, dipping into the teens at night.

It's in the '50's at night with no heating. I can't wait for the '40's. / Snark

Actually, I'm making moves to get out of this dump.
