CME Futures Outage Disrupts Trading Across Global Markets

The Bloomberg story made me break out in a sweat and took me back a few decades...I used to work for the CME, back in mainframe pre-internet days.
During one part of my career there I was in part responsible for clearing and settlement systems for the exchange. My development team installed some updates to the system and things crashed in the middle of the night. They worked frantically to find and fix the problem as the morning opening was moving closer and closer. It didn't help that the senior VP of our division (always a high energy person but that night even more so) was pacing frantically around the computer room. My boss asked me if there was anything he could do and I said "Please get Don out of here."

All was well that ended well. The problem was found and fixed in time for the opening. We had 40 minutes to spare..
I used to joke that I came within a hair's breadth of being a headline in the WSJ...
