Going to 38 tonight with high of 50 tomorrow. Don't know why "feels like" is running low. Wind is around 12 mph. It must be things like the humidity, or maybe the b. pressure, or something. I don't like it but what can you do.

Tangent alert. I am about to go on a tangent. "Take me to the venue."-- Madonna's best line in her best film with then husband Guy Richie. BTW, "Swept Away" was one of the worst films ever made so the fact they made this short film is something of a miracle. "Star" is a comedy and a morality play. It's very entertaining. Everything about it-- the directing, casting, acting, etc.--is practically flawless. Incidentally, Madonna's late brother, Christopher, said she couldn't do comedy. Wrong. I love this film. Honorary mention for Clive Davis' excellent performance. Link to video So, getting back to the topic, of course, The Kennedy center is literally a national monument, and is a cultural institution. I don't care, anymore, though, about its troubles, because, in the final analysis, JFK's memory cannot be and will not be changed by whatever happens to The Kennedy Center.

I made these tonight. Yummy. Chocolate Cherry Bars 1 cup butter (or margarine) 1.25 cups sugar 1 egg beaten 1 teaspoonn vanilla 2.25 cups flour 1.25 teaspoons baking powder .25 teaspoon salt .25 cup nuts, chopped .25 cup flaked sweetened cococnut 1 cup semisweet chocolate pieces .25 cup maraschino cherries, drained with stems removed Preheat oven to 375 (for 11 x 16 pan) or 350 F (for 9 x 13 pan) Cream butter and sugar, add egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Add nuts, ,coconut, chocolate pieces, and cherries to flour mixture. Add flour mixture to the butter and sugar. Mix well. Press into pan. Bake 20 minutes for 11 x 16 pan; 35 minutes for 9 x 13 plan. [image: 1769570348564-1271.jpg]
