It’s gotten such universal praise. I thought it might give me some of the character of a French press with less mess.

It does make a fine cup, but a very CLEAN cup. I could use a bit more body, and I know there are ways to experiment with grind, brew time, etc. Right now it’s quite similar to my filtered pour-over. I give it a short “bloom,” then add more water and wait a full minute before plunging.

One issue is that the directions ask you to listen for a hissing sound near the end of the plunging, and I just can’t hear anything. Maybe it’s my ears. But it needs to be done correctly to pop out the grounds.

Have been an Aeropress user for 20 years or more when making a cup just for myself; we use an old Melitta electric drip machine to make four cups in the morning for the two of us. On the rare occasion that I do make another cup in the afternoon for just me, I use the Aeropress. A much superior cup to electric drip.
